Our Beach Holiday At A New Dog-Friendly Hotel

Our Beach Holiday At A New Dog-Friendly Hotel

As I type this blog post about our very spring/summery May beach holiday, I'm sitting in our office with Chloe snoring in her bed. We have the air conditioner on, it's pouring rain outside, and these photos I took at the beach make me want to go back!

Here's the recap of our dog-friendly, May beach holiday.

Zoomies in the sand. Long walks in the sunshine. Lazing around on the beach. That was our vision for our spur of the moment long weekend getaway to a small beach in South Korea where a new dog-friendly hotel had just opened. Our trip didn't exactly go as planned but there were some unexpected, great moments that made up for it.

Why The Beach

Chloe loves the beach. I love the beach. There's nothing like spending time outdoors away from the hustle and bustle of the city, dogs doing zoomies in the sand, and the whole family sitting around in the sunshine doing nothing.

The weather has been heating up and with a public holiday in May fast approaching, we decided to get out of the city for a couple days. We like to keep an eye out for dog-friendly hotels around South Korea and this one had just opened. The timing was pawfect.

Our hotel is in the background where Chloe's nose is pointing at.

The beaches we visit are along the east coast of South Korea, which is a couple hours drive from Seoul. It's not too far and makes for a pawfect weekend getaway.

The Location

Located at Yang Yang in South Korea is the dog-friendly hotel called St. The Suite.

The Road Trip

Usually only a two to three hour drive from Seoul, the road trip across the country is smooth sailing. As we traveled over the public holidays, there was a lot of traffic.

The Dog-Friendly Hotel

We stayed at St. The Suite in Yang Yang, the new dog-friendly hotel right by the beach.

Wow, what a view!

Wow, what a clean, beautiful room!

And wow, what a breakfast buffet!

We love that the breakfast buffet is dog-friendly so we could keep Chloe in her dog stroller by our table while we enjoyed all the yummy food. So many delicious options for breakfast including freshly baked bread and pastries.

Bonus cuteness: There was a social, talkative parrot perched in its tree in the check in area. It was speaking to us in Korean and we spoke to it in English. It impersonated our laughter. We like to think it enjoyed our company.

The Beach

The beach is right at the hotel's doorstep. Pawfect.

What we didn't know is that there were just so many shells everywhere so we didn't walk through the sand at all. We kept our walks to the main boardwalk.

Another thing we didn't know is that it'd be windy. Not windy like... "oh it's a little windy but we can still walk outside". It was so windy we thought we'd fly away. So we didn't spend as much time outdoors as we had wanted.

Lilly thoroughly enjoyed relaxing by the beach.

The Dog-Friendly Eateries

Having dog-friendly restaurants and cafes that offer indoor seating is incredibly important to us. As this beach seems like one of the smaller destinations, there weren't any obvious dog-friendly eateries.

We did happen to see a restaurant serving food that looked delicious and decided to ask. And yes! We were so happy they had dog-friendly seats available.

For our other meals, we drove up the coast to Sokcho, another beach city, and had lunch at a dog-friendly restaurant while Chloe took a nap in her dog stroller.

And we also found a cool ice cream shop for dessert.

Fortunately, the breakfast buffet at our hotel was amazing that we were very satisfied for most of the day.

In Conclusion

Chloe and Lilly loved being out and about. While we spent a lot of time indoors at the hotel, the hotel room was pawfect. As you can see, the pups were very comfortable, which is ultimately what really matters to us.

I'm looking forward to sunny and warmer weather so I can take Chloe on more of these kinds of fun, dog-friendly outings.

What are your plans for summer? We'd love to hear from you!
